About

Hi, I’m Rachel, a history blogger, church-crawler and stained-glass fanatic, living in Saffron Walden, Essex.

In this blog I will be sharing some of my favourite discoveries from my travels around England’s stunning historic sites.

You’ll find me either exploring an ancient church, with a Pevsner in my hand, analysing the tiniest details of the stained glass through a pair of binoculars, or curled up at home watching a period drama with a glass of wine.

Another love of mine is interactive museum interpretation. This selfie station was at the British Library for the ‘Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms’ exhibition – January 2019

I am also lucky enough to work in historic buildings preservation and am a qualified stained glass conservator. I recently landed a fantastic job with the Churches Conservation Trust and have previously been involved with National Trust and some small, independent museums too!

Some of you may already know me through my professional persona; RA Conservation and my regular Instagram posts and I am proud to say that bloggers ‘Hisdoryan’ and ‘Early Modern Women’ have featured my Instagram account for its interesting content!

“It’s one of those wonderful accounts where you always feel you are learning or discovering something new.”
